The Drammen 186 Project proved to be one of the most challenging we’ve tackled recently, mainly because the house is designed for two families. Specifically, it accommodates two women with two dogs and a family couple with two children — a total of 6 people + at least 2 dogs living under one roof.
The main requirement was to divide the house into two fully autonomous sections, each with all the necessary spaces for comfortable country living, while still allowing easy movement between the sections without going outside. On top of that, the house needed to fit within relatively compact dimensions due to a limited construction budget.
Initial conditions included:
-
Gas available on site, with the limitation of a low-pressure pipeline
-
An existing old foundation, part of which would become the base for a terrace
-
Construction using aerated concrete technology only
-
A set of required rooms
After intensive brainstorming with the clients, we developed a modern, comfortable design meeting today’s standards.
Features include:
-
Ample storage (pantry + built-in wardrobes in each room)
-
Wide staircase to the second floor
-
Guest bathroom and laundry room
-
Master bedroom with large wardrobe and private bathroom
-
A huge south-facing balcony off the master bedroom — perfect for morning coffee or sunbathing on a lounge chair
-
Deck with a transparent roof, protected from wind on two sides, ideal for summer rain
